Quality Christmas trees Cornwall: news from Ladydowns Christmas trees
People have been pleased with the quality Christmas trees from Cornwall, bought at Ladydowns.
We are still cutting trees daily, so if you haven’t got your tree yet don’t worry – we’re here until December 23.
Come to us at Polgoon Vineyard & Orchard for the freshest Christmas trees.
Did you know in Germany it is traditional to hide a pickle somewhere within the branches of the Christmas tree, and give a gift to whichever child in the household finds it? Perhaps we could offer a Cornish version with a little pasty hidden in the tree.
Another interesting fact is that Ukrainians use decorations for their Christmas Tree that mimic the natural formation of spiders’ webs shimmering with dew. The tradition goes back to a folktale about a poor widow who could not afford to decorate a tree for her children. Legend has it that spiders in the house took pity on the family’s plight, and spun beautiful webs all over the tree, which the children awoke to find on Christmas morning. Spiders’ webs are also considered to be lucky in Ukrainian culture.
Finally, we salute Anita Johnson who sent us this lovely message: “Another beautiful Christmas tree from Ladydowns at Polgoon. ?Would highly recommend – great value for money, lovely friendly people and you’re supporting a local business. Thank you so much ? see you next December.”
We must say that her decorated tree is one of the nicest we’ve seen…
On that note, we’d like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Look forward to seeing you all again next December!
